About

Comforting, Safe, and Warm

Being a therapist is one of the great honors of my life. To have clients tell me their stories is a privilege that I don’t take lightly. I understand how hard it is to let down ones walls, to trust someone enough to share the secrets they’ve been holding onto. Having been on my own therapeutic journey I can appreciate the process my clients are going through. Because of my own experience it is important to me to provide a space where each client feels safe, heard, and appreciated. My clients describe me as warm, authentic, and accepting with a good sense of humor. I have a gentle approach as I see my role as a collaborative partner and guide in the process. I believe that everyone has the potential to make positive changes in their lives based on their own inner strength. I help my clients connect with and heal the deeper issues underlying their troubling symptoms, working at a pace that feels safe and supportive. Helping them find their inner strength while reframing experiences from their past to find peace. My theoretical orientation is eclectic as I use parts of Person Centered, Reality and Cognitive Behavior Therapy techniques. In addition, I have found incorporating experiential and creative arts techniques to be helpful for many clients. I’ve worked with client’s ages five to eighty facing issues such as anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship and family of origin issues. I have a special interest in working with Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Transgender, and Questioning individuals, survivors of childhood trauma, and adult children of alcoholics. As an artist, musician, and yogi I believe in the importance of life balance and self care. This is an area in my life where I continue to learn and grow and will encourage you to do the same. I have a master degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Carolina Charlotte. I am licensed by the North Carolina Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and am certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors.
